For thousands of years, the investigation of the Great Wall by Chinese scholars has been full of fear and sense of distance. In the writings of the Chinese literati, the Great Wall is always linked to the disappearance of life and the natural depression. Through the investigation of King, Gansu, Shanxi and Great Wall along the Great Wall of China, Zhou Tao got rid of the fear of the Chinese literati for the Great Wall over a long period of time and restored an immortal civilization full of vigor and vitality for thousands of years up to the present. This investigation also reflects a kind of discourse transformation of intellectuals from the grand tradition of grand narrative to the small tradition full of vitality in the 1990s.
