工业上常用的18-8型奥氏体不锈钢具有良好的耐腐蚀性能、焊接性能和加工性能,但是由于合金元素的作用,它的奥氏体组织十分稳定,不能通过热处理方法提高机械性能,只有通过冷加工硬化,强度才略有提高。这就限制了它的用途。马氏体不锈钢,只有在加热到1000℃以上进行淬火处理才能使强度得到提高,但是,在加热过程中的氧化和淬火过程中的变形,又限制了它的广泛应用。沉淀硬化不锈钢兼有良好的耐腐蚀性能、焊接性能及冷加工性能和通过适当的热处理可以大大提高强度极限的性质,从而开拓了它的广泛用途。
