清代玉米、番薯在广西的传播差异原因新解——兼与郑维宽教授商榷

明时玉米和红薯传入中国,清初传入土流并存的广西,但是两者在广西的传播、推广境遇却有很大的不同:玉米传播迅速,种植面积较大,成为山区主要粮食作物,而红薯传播速度较慢,种植面积不大。究其原因,学界有人提出主因是广西在清朝嘉庆以前尚不存在较为严重的粮食短缺以及红薯对土质要求比玉米高,其实最主要的原因是红薯的品质不如玉米。 The introduction of corn and sweet potato into China in the Ming Dynasty and the introduction of soil erosion and coexistence in Guangxi in the early Qing Dynasty, however, have made a wide difference in the dissemination and promotion of the two crops in Guangxi. The maize spread rapidly and its planting area was relatively large, making it a major cereal crop in mountainous areas , While sweet potato propagation speed is slow, planted area is not big. The reason, scholars have suggested that the main reason is that in Guangxi before the Qing dynasty Jiaqing there is no more serious food shortages and sweet potato soil requirements higher than corn, in fact, the most important reason is the quality of sweet potatoes better than corn.
