[本刊讯]7月15日至16日,全国司法厅（局）长座谈会在成都举行。这次会议的主要任务是:认真学习贯彻江泽民总书记“5·31”重要讲话,解放思想,与时俱进,推进司法行政工作的改革与发展,迎接党的十六大的胜利召开。会议围绕着3项议题进行了座谈:一是推进监狱工作的改革与发展,探索建立有中国特色社会主义监狱制度;二是研究进一步规范法律服务秩序,加快大中城市社区法律服务发展步伐;三是落实中央编办、司法部关于加强司法所建设的意见,深化人民调解制度改革,加强司法行政基层工作。
[From a press release] From July 15 to July 16, a long forum of the National Bureau of Justice (Bureau) was held in Chengdu. The main task of this meeting is to conscientiously study and implement General Secretary Jiang Zemin’s important speech on May 31, emancipate the mind, keep pace with the times, push forward the reform and development of judicial administration, and welcome the victory of the 16th CPC National Congress. The meeting focused on three topics: first, to promote the reform and development of prison work, to explore the establishment of a socialism prison system with Chinese characteristics; second, to study and further standardize the legal service order to speed up the pace of development of community legal services in large and medium-sized cities; and It is to implement the views of the central government and the Ministry of Justice on strengthening the construction of justice, deepen the reform of the people’s mediation system, and strengthen grassroots work of judicial administration.
