In the heart of the Pearl River Delta, there is an ancient building known as the palace of folk art in Lingnan, which is known as the “Foshan Ancestral Temple.” It was founded in the Yuanfeng period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1078–1085). Over 900 years of history, it is a temple dedicated to the “Northern Zenwu God of Heaven” named “Bei Di Temple”. It is called “Zhu Miao” because it is “old and long ago, and it is the first temple”. This building was destroyed in the last years of the Yuan Dynasty. After the reconstructing of Hong Wu in the early Ming Dynasty (1372), it has undergone continuous renovation and expansion to become a group of ancient buildings with southern features.
