米兰·昆德拉的关于快乐的、虚构的、理性的文学创作观点直接影响了王小波的小说创作,以至于王小波也始终推崇幽默的、虚构的、具有犀利的解析的文学创作。昆德拉的“媚俗”这一文学观点对于王小波提出“媚雅”的理解有直接联系,二者不是相反的观点,而是两种非常接近的生存态度。当然它们之间也存在明显的差异,如萨宾娜和陈清扬的不“媚俗”和不“媚雅”的生存姿态就有相似之处又有区别,但它们的理念是一样的,都是一种区别于主流生存状态的存在姿态,一种不畏政治媚俗,敢于背叛他人给自己设定的角色,勇于承担精神孤独的生存方式。
