罗本·马摩里安(1897—?)是好莱坞的老导演之一。早年在英国从事戏剧工作,去美国后先在百老汇任戏剧导演,从三十年代开始在好莱坞拍摄影片。马摩里安的创作旺盛时期是三十、四十年代,以《化身博士》、《碧血黄沙》、《瑞典女王》等片较为著名。此后只在1957年拍过一部《一双丝袜》。 马摩里安从事电影导演工作的时期,正是电影艺术由于增添了声音和彩色等新的元素而发生激烈变化的时期。马摩里安敏锐地觉察到了电影艺术的独特的表现潜力,在音画处理和彩色运用等方面进行了多方探索。这篇文章记述了他的这种探索过程,对我们可能有一些参考作用。 本文选译自埃里克·谢尔曼编《导演影片——电影导演谈导演艺术》(美国电影研究所1975年出版)一书。
Robben Mamorian (1897-?) Is one of Hollywood’s old directors.
