The U.S. Marines have evaluated the use of the AGM-65E Labrador laser air-to-air missiles of the Hughes Aircraft Company’s Missile Systems group, which all hit 15 targets directly. The review also includes another new 300-pound warhead test developed for such missiles to meet the demands of the Marine Corps’s strong attack. Naval and Defense officials briefing on the use of evaluation results is scheduled to begin last week. Hughes planners look forward to identifying reliable contracts for the missile production soon. The company is using its own funds to start production. The Marine Corps assessment of such missiles was conducted at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, the China Lake Naval Weapons Center in California and the Pacific Missile Test Center in Mugu, California. Launched during the day, the missile attacked fixed and movable targets. The fiscal year 1982 defense budget is the ultimate realization of such lasers
