Pregnane X receptor (PXR) and Constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) two members of the superfamily of nuclear receptors,have been well recognized as "xenobiotic sensors" that transcriptionally regulate the expression of Phase I and Phase Ⅱ drug/xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes and transporters.
