With the development of film technology and social changes in consumer demand, the spectacle features of film are enhanced and prominent. James Cameron specializes in digital special effects, so his cinematic spectacle is very typical and representative. As an explorer in movie technique, each of his films in movie special effects is set for future technology benchmark.Such as from 1984, the "Terminator" to 1997’s "Titanic " and then to 2009,"Avatar" and so on. These "event movie" are representatives which cause a worldwide sensation and have a great impact on the revolution of movie special effects and film concepts. This paper chooses several representative films of James Cameron as research object, and the wonders of the film are focus of the analysis and study, concluding and analyzing the origin phenomena, style and the art characteristics of the film spectacle features of James Francis Cameron.The paper systematically summarizes the concepts of spectacle features of film, its formation and nature first. The second part originally analyzes several aspects, such as the impact of "new Hollywood", his personal growth experience, digital technology and the tendency of the visual society. The third part makes several representative movies of James Cameron as research subjects. And the cinematic spectacle is analyzed and summarized systematically. Finally the paper studies the art characteristics of film spectacle of James Cameron and the inspiration for the development of spectacle film in our country.
