Recently, many scholars do researches on the Japanese loanwords in the different aspects. The research materials of this paper are based on the 889 loanwords from the <Chinese loanword dictionary>. We judge the 64 Chinese fixed words by Shen Guowei’s textual research which was on the original of the Japanese loanword. Then we eliminate 129 Japanese loanword according to the<Modern Chinese standard Dictionary> and<Modern Chinese Dictionary>. And finally,696 Japanese loanwords which were conformed to the research targets were obtained.Firstly, we divided the period of the absorption of the Japanese loanword into Chinese in two parts. It mainly introduces the background and the methods of the absorption of the Japanese loanwords in the first period by the end of 1900’s. The second period starts from 1980’s, it is different from the previous one, such as the meaning types, psychosocial, absorption ways and methods.Secondly, we classify the Japanese loanwords by its properties. They are divided into 5 kinds. Then, the distribution of them in the contemporary Chinese language is statistically detected.Thirdly, we contrast these 696 Japanese loanwords according to its meanings, and divide them into 3 parts. The results that about 70 percent of them are of the same meaning as well as the different meanings in the rest of the words are found in these two countries. The reason that causing the change of the meanings are analysised in this paper as well as the mother tongue interference. Then we get the solution of learning Japanese in the influence of mother tongue interference.Finally, a brief introduction of Sino-Japanese cultural exchange is given by the medium of Chinese characters. We come to understand Japan through the words exchange as well as Western civilization. The Japanese loanwords are not only taking the important part in the past, but also play an unparalleled role in the new period after reform and opening. They also enrich the Chinese vocabulary as well as making great progress in promoting Chinese culture.
