“留守儿童”是指由于父母一方或双方外出打工而被留在农村老家,并且需要其他亲人或委托他人照顾的处于义务教育阶段的少年儿童(一般指六至十六岁)。这一年龄阶段的学生大多数在中小学寄宿读书,特别是在撤点并校之后,大多数学生合并到城区中学或乡镇中学,离家较远,通常都寄居学校,只有放长假或寒暑假才离开学校。他们的学习和生活得不到监护人和代理监护人的关爱和照顾。在城镇娱乐场所极强的诱惑下,缺少父母关爱和监护人监护的这些学生很容易出现行为偏差,甚至养成不良习惯。因此,加强对这部分学生的教育成为教师义不容辞的一项重要工作。学校不断探索各种途径和方法,确保撤点并 “Left-behind children ” refers to children (usually six to 16 years old) who are in compulsory education who have been left for rural home because of work by one or both of their parents and need other relatives or entrusted with their work.
