Objective To investigate the changes of VCS parameters in peripheral blood lymphocytes and mononuclear cells in patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) and virus infection and its clinical significance. Methods The statistics of VCS parameters of lymphocytes and mononuclear cells in 197 MP infected patients, 194 virus infected patients and 150 healthy children measured by Coulter LH750 automatic hematology analyzer were compared statistically. Results Compared with the control group, the WBC, MLC, MLS, MMV, MDW and MMC of MP infected group were significantly increased, while the MMS was significantly decreased (P <0.01); MLV, MLC, MMV, While MLS and MMS decreased significantly (P <0.01). Compared with the virus-infected group, MLS and MMC in MP-infected group were significantly increased, while MLV and MMS were significantly decreased (P <0.01). Other indicators were not statistically significant (P> 0.05). Conclusion The VCS parameters of lymphocytes and mononuclear cells are of great value in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of MP and virus infection.
