Data show that in 2015, 90% of FinTech’s investment in the Asia-Pacific region was concentrated in China while Internet giants such as BAT participated in projects that invested over 40%. A study released by Citigroup shows that the number of Chinese FinTech companies has equalized or even surpassed China’s largest bank, and that “the majority of internet giants such as Ali, Baidu and Tencent are in charge of e-commerce, third-party payment and online borrowing s hard work”.
