西方马克思主义学派中的一个分支即市场社会主义，近年来对西方马克思主义关于资源配置机制的传统理论提出了挑战，把以前被全盘否定的市场机制上升到社会主义经济体制中的主导机制的地位，而把计划机制界定为一种辅助机制，这种新探索可归纳为物质文明一市场经济一资本主义三层分立模式，中性机制论、联烟论、市场取向的主导机制论等。我们可以从中找出可供借鉴的合理的思想材料，用以丰富中国特色的社会主义理论。
